Dear Steven & Kathleen,
This week we reflect on a beautiful and world‑shaping truth: Jesus saw the value in every person. He gave dignity to the overlooked, compassion to the hurting, and love to those the world dismissed. No one was invisible to Him. No one was beyond His reach.
Scripture tells us,
“God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34), and Jesus embodied this perfectly. In a society where status, gender, wealth, and purity laws created rigid boundaries, Jesus crossed every line with grace.
Jesus elevated women—He welcomed them as disciples (Luke 8:1–3), defended their dignity (John 8:1–11), and entrusted the first Easter proclamation to Mary Magdalene (John 20:17–18). Luther once said, “The gospel is not bound to any person’s worthiness, but to Christ’s mercy.” Jesus showed this mercy to women in a culture that often silenced them.
Jesus cherished children—In a world where children had little social standing, Jesus said,
