Dear Steven & Kathleen,
In weeks two and three of our sermon series, we turn to Joshua—a leader who teaches us about perspective and overcoming challenges.
God tells Joshua in Joshua 1:9:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua faced giants, fortified cities, and overwhelming odds, yet his perspective was shaped not by fear but by faith.
Joshua reminds us that courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s the presence of God. Back in the 1700s, John Wesley, the famous evangelist of yesteryear, once said,
“Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I will shake the world.”
When challenges loom large, Joshua’s story invites us to lift our eyes to the One who fights for us.
Reflection Questions:
- What challenges are you facing right now that require courage?
- How does Joshua’s story reshape your perspective on obstacles?
- Where do you need to trust God’s presence more than your own strength?
I love being your pastor!
Your Friend and His,
Pastor Arthur
